Question: A 27-year-old African American man recently diagnosed with human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) not on treatment presented with massive bleeding per rectum that required >7 U packed red blood cells transfusion. His initial hemoglobin was 2.2 g/dL that decreased from his baseline of 10 g/dL. After resuscitation, upper endoscopy and colonoscopy were performed.
