Hence, advances in biomaterials science and engineering are crucial to strategies that aim to control the body\u2019s response to injury. In this regard, our laboratory pioneered the development of citrate-based polyesters, which have become an important tool due to their versatile material and biological characteristics including unique antioxidant, optical, and antimicrobial properties. This presentation will discuss fundamental design considerations, strategies to incorporate unique functionality, and examples of how citrate-based biomaterials can be an enabling technology for next-generation devices designed to improve the outcome of medical procedures such as wound care, revascularization, and ligament replacement surgeries.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>FEBRUARY 25, 2015.
