{"id":238,"date":"2009-05-20T08:22:30","date_gmt":"2009-05-20T14:22:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blogs.vanderbilt.edu\/its_softwarestore\/?p=58"},"modified":"2009-05-20T08:22:30","modified_gmt":"2009-05-20T14:22:30","slug":"windows-7-upgrade-offer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/softwarestore\/2009\/05\/windows-7-upgrade-offer\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows 7 Upgrade Offer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.microsoft.com\/windows\/windows-7\/default.aspx\">Windows 7<\/a> is expected to be released in the latter half of 2009. <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.zdnet.com\/microsoft\/?p=1791\">ZDnet<\/a> has reported that computer manufacturers will begin offering no cost Vista to Windows 7 upgrades on July 1.\u00a0 Microsoft is offering the following promotion to higher education to help foster Windows 7 adoption:<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"color: #1f497d\"><span style=\"font-size: small;font-family: Calibri\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraph\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt 0.5in;text-indent: -0.25in\"><span style=\"color: #1f497d;font-family: Symbol\"><span><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">\u00b7<\/span><span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #1f497d\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">If a customer has purchased a license for Windows XP Professional or Windows Vista Business through OEM (i.e. through a hardware manufacturer such as Dell) since August 1, 2008, the customer may place the license under software assurance (SA).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraph\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt 0.5in;text-indent: -0.25in\"><span style=\"color: #1f497d;font-family: Symbol\"><span><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">\u00b7<\/span><span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #1f497d\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">If Windows 7 is released within two years of the SA purchase date, Windows 7 will be a free upgrade.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoListParagraph\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 10pt 0.5in;text-indent: -0.25in\"><span style=\"color: #1f497d;font-family: Symbol\"><span><span style=\"font-size: x-small\">\u00b7<\/span><span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span><\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #1f497d\"><span style=\"font-size: x-small\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">The offer ends September 27, 2009.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\" style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0pt\"><span style=\"color: #1f497d\"><span style=\"font-size: small;font-family: Calibri\">Vanderbilt departments with OEM Windows licenses not already covered by SA, or that plan on purchasing systems with XP or Vista between now and July 1, may use this promotion as a cost effective option for upgrading to Windows 7.\u00a0 Departments can take advantage of the offer by purchasing the \u201cMicrosoft Windows 7 Upgrade from OEM Windows License Purchased after 8\/1\/08 Pre-Order\u201d product through the <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanderbilt.edu\/its\/software\"><span style=\"font-size: small;color: #0000ff;font-family: Calibri\">ITS Software Store<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-size: small\"><span style=\"font-family: Calibri\">.\u00a0 Pre-order licenses cost $34.02.\u00a0 The expected \u201cnon-promotional\u201d price for Windows 7 Upgrade through the Software Store is $50.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Windows 7 is expected to be released in the latter half of 2009.
