{"id":1006,"date":"2013-04-18T14:42:51","date_gmt":"2013-04-18T14:42:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/softwarestore.vanderbilt.edu\/?p=1006"},"modified":"2013-04-18T14:42:51","modified_gmt":"2013-04-18T14:42:51","slug":"windows-8-activation-issue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/softwarestore\/2013\/04\/windows-8-activation-issue\/","title":{"rendered":"Windows 8 Activation Issue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This alert applies to volume-licensed copies of Windows 8 (i.e. the version of Windows 8 available through the Software Store (<a href=\"http:\/\/softwarestore.vanderbilt.edu\">http:\/\/softwarestore.vanderbilt.edu<\/a>) under the \u201cDepartments\u201d tab).<\/p>\n<p>Here is a summary of the problem:<\/p>\n<p>If a user:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022         Has Office 2010 or later on a system running Windows 8<br \/>\n\u2022         Used the ITS KMS server to activate<br \/>\n\u2022         Disconnects his computer from the Vanderbilt network<\/p>\n<p>Windows will notify the user that he needs to activate.<\/p>\n<p>You can fix the problem by installing the Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 cumulative update 2822241.  This update is installed automatically if you select the Install updates automatically (recommended) Windows Update setting.
