Developing Mutual Understandings, Goals, and Tools<\/b><\/p>\n

The first phase of the project took place over the course of the first years and included\u00a03 goals:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Develop a shared understanding of Mf<\/i>A LA as a professional learning environment for the Master Teacher Fellows (MTF).<\/li>\n
  2. Develop a data collection plan and prepare interview protocols\u00a0to capture teachers\u2019 learning over time.<\/li>\n
  3. Pilot a formative feedback process: a video-based formative feedback (VFF) cycle to enhance the MTF teachers\u2019 learning.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The VFF Cycle<\/span><\/p>\n

    \u00a0\u00a0\"Screen<\/p>\n

    In the\u00a0VFF cycle design, teachers focus on their learning goals\u00a0by studying their own practices.\u00a0Teachers are filmed using a\u00a0series of cameras, allowing project team members to review class sessions.\u00a0They can then\u00a0identify moments\u00a0that provide evidence to probe the teacher’s questions.<\/p>\n

    Sometimes, the video excerpts offer evidence of instruction going as the teacher intended. Other times, they hear details about students\u2019 responses that they did not anticipate. In both cases, as the video excerpts elicit the teacher\u2019s sensemaking, dilemmas and tensions surface and alternative courses of action are considered and discussed.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
