Etrolizumab, a humanized monoclonal antibody specific for \u03b27 integrin, blocks both \u03b14\u03b27:MAdCAM-1 as well as \u03b1E\u03b27:E-cadherin interactions. In our phase II study, we observed that patients with higher than median levels of \u03b1E at baseline had higher remission rates following etrolizumab treatment.1 Both \u03b1E and the cytolytic protein granzyme A were found to be higher in baseline biopsies of etrolizumab-treated patients who achieved remission compared with those who did not achieve remission.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you for the opportunity to reply to Smids et\u00a0al regarding our paper in Gastroenterology.
