Generally, diseases of type A are quite mild and the patient&#8217;s quality of life is minimally affected. Type B and C\u00a0are intermediate\u00a0in severity, while type D is often fatal and requires the most extensive intervention. Physicians also often report a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pubmed\/15660446\"><strong>lung-to-head ratio (LHR)<\/strong><\/a>. This is a numeric estimate of the size of the fetal lungs based on what is visible, with LHR&gt;1.0 often foreshadowing favorable clinical outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Below, <strong>note data<\/strong> on persons diagnosed with CDH provided by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.childrenshospitalvanderbilt.org\/\"><strong>Vanderbilt Children&#8217;s Hospital<\/strong><\/a>, compared with the <a href=\"https:\/\/med.uth.edu\/pediatricsurgery\/research\/research-centers-and-programs\/cdhsg\/\"><strong>University of Texas CDH Registry<\/strong><\/a>. This registry provides data reported by over 50 fetal care centers nationwide.
