Kinsey is originally from South Charleston, West Virginia. \u00a0Kinsey studied Philosophy and English with a particular focus on application to modern race theory at The College of Wooster in Ohio. Before coming to Vanderbilt, Kinsey was a kindergarten \u2013 1<sup>st<\/sup> grade teacher and middle school basketball coach in Hazlehurst, Mississippi through Teach for America and taking on a role for recruiting HBCU and local undergraduates from Mississippi into TFA.\u00a0 As a teacher, her focus was on family friendly classrooms and relationship building, which was crucial for spreading positive school culture in a small town atmosphere.\u00a0 Her current interests in working with the Women\u2019s Center include women in leadership opportunities, working with female athletics, and building relationships across campus for students with families so that they feel\u00a0 welcome at Vanderbilt.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Women&#8217;s Center is excited to welcome our new Graduate Assistant for the 2014-2015 year, Kinsey Lee Walker.
