Primarily, we isolate quartz and zircon minerals from whole rock or bulk sediment samples. In these spaces we can:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Cut, crush, pulverize, and sieve samples.<\/li>\n<li>Clean samples with dilute acids and a sonicbath.<\/li>\n<li>Perform density (LST) and magnetic (Frantz) separations.<\/li>\n<li>Perform surfactant separations that distinguish minerals based on fracture and cleavage patterns<\/li>\n<li>Dissolve minerals in Nitric, Hydrofluoric, and Hydrochloric acids.<\/li>\n<li>Prepare samples for the SEM and LA-ICP-MS by mounting the samples in epoxy and polishing them.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Updates from the lab can be seen on my Twitter page: <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DMantarctica\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/twitter.com\/DMantarctica<\/a>.
