Vanderbilt University celebrated its annual Brazil Week with a variety of activities across campus.\u00a0 The events included films, poetry, capoeira, art, lectures, and futebol.\u00a0 The week culminated at the Scarritt-Bennett Center with food and music at \u201cTaste of Brazil\u201d on Brazilian Independence Day.\u00a0 As part of the 2012 celebration, Vanderbilt hosted an interdisciplinary group of faculty from the University of S\u00e3o Paulo strengthening their research collaborations with Brazil. <\/span><\/p>\n

During Brazil Week, Conversations\/Conversas members Ana Maria Tavares and Mario Ramiro, along with Bruno Schultze, conducted studio visits at the Department of Art.\u00a0 Mario Ramiro gave a public lecture entitled \u201cCollective Practice in Contemporary Brazilian Art\u201d and Ana Maria Tavares introduced the film Sobras em Obras<\/em>, a film by Michel Favre.\u00a0 USP and Vanderbilt members also had time to collaborate on upcoming projects.<\/p>\n
