The aim is to stimulate collaboration and the exchange of ideas. <strong>Early-career researchers (including students) as well as women and members of underrepresented groups are especially encouraged to attend.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-72 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn-dev.vanderbilt.edu\/t2-my-dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3471\/2024\/01\/doron-lubinsky.jpg\" alt=\"doron-lubinsky\" width=\"200\" height=\"200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/cdn-dev.vanderbilt.edu\/t2-my-dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3471\/2024\/01\/doron-lubinsky.jpg 200w, https:\/\/cdn-dev.vanderbilt.edu\/t2-my-dev\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/3471\/2024\/01\/doron-lubinsky-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>The conference will be held in conjunction with the <b>37<sup>th<\/sup><\/b><strong>\u00a0Annual Shanks Lecture<\/strong>, to be given by Professor <strong>Doron Lubinsky<\/strong> (Georgia Institute of Technology). <b>The Lecture will be on Tuesday, May 20.<\/b>\u00a0 The prestigious Shanks Lecture Series is organized annually by the Department of Mathematics of Vanderbilt University, honoring Baylis and Olivia Shanks. The late Professor Baylis Shanks was chairman of the Department from 1955 through 1969. The\u00a0conference will honor his many outstanding contributions to mathematics, his unselfish devotion to\u00a0the promotion of approximation in the mathematical community, and his unceasing commitment to the education of the younger generation of mathematicians.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This meeting will feature several <a href=\"https:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/constructivefunctions2025\/about-me\/plenary-speakers\/\">plenary speakers<\/a> who will give lectures on several topics of special interest.<\/p>\n<p><strong>We encourage you to give a contributed talk in any of the topics of this conference or related ones. <\/strong>The anticipated duration of a contributed talk is 20 minutes, followed by 10 minutes for questions and transition to the next speaker. In order to give a contributed talk, please submit an <a href=\"https:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/constructivefunctions2025\/current-courses\/\">abstract<\/a> by <strong>March<\/strong><b>\u00a014, 2025<\/b>.<\/p>\n<p>We also encourage the participants of the conference, particularly our more senior colleagues, to consider organizing a\u00a0<strong>minisymposium<\/strong>\u00a0on a subject of current interest.
