{"id":10,"date":"2015-07-02T16:58:28","date_gmt":"2015-07-02T16:58:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/shanks2016\/homepage\/"},"modified":"2018-05-15T20:28:39","modified_gmt":"2018-05-15T20:28:39","slug":"homepage-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/at16\/","title":{"rendered":"Home"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 style=\"text-align: center;font-size: 28px\">Approximation Theory 16<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;font-size: 28px\">May 19 &#8212; 22, 2019<\/h4>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: center;font-size: 28px\">Nashville, TN<\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>This meeting will be the sixteenth in a series of\u00a0 international conferences on <em>Approximation Theory<\/em> held every three years at various locations in the U.S.\u00a0 The first was held in Austin, Texas in 1973, with later ones in Austin (1976, 1980, 1992), College Station (1983, 1986, 1989, 1995), Nashville (1998), St. Louis (2001), Gatlinburg (2004), and San Antonio (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.vanderbilt.edu\/~at07\">2007<\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.vanderbilt.edu\/~at13\">, 2010<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.vanderbilt.edu\/~at14\">2013<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.math.vanderbilt.edu\/AT15\/\">2016<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>These meetings\u00a0have traditionally been the main general international conferences on this\u00a0topic for over 45 years, and have been well attended by mathematicians\u00a0from academia, industry, and government. As with the previous meetings, the objective of this conference is to provide a forum for workers in the field to meet and\u00a0discuss current research.\u00a0The meeting will feature eight <a href=\"http:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/AT16\/invited\">plenary speakers<\/a>\u00a0who will give one-hour survey\u00a0lectures on topics of special current interest. There will also be a number of <a href=\"https:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/at16\/minisymposia\/\">minisymposia,<\/a> as well as sessions for contributed papers. Here is a list of <a href=\"http:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/AT16\/topics\">topics of interest<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>We would like to encourage everyone to actively participate in the conference by giving a talk or organizing a minisymposium, or both.\u00a0 For more information, see <a href=\"http:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/at16\/talks\">Talks<\/a>.\u00a0 We plan to publish a proceedings volume based on papers presented at the meeting. On the social side, there will be a reception on Sunday, <em>May 19,<\/em> and\u00a0 a (ticketed) conference dinner on Tuesday, <em>May 21<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>If you plan to give a talk at the meeting, you must submit an abstract by<em> May 1<\/em>,<em> 2019.<\/em>\u00a0To be included\u00a0in the scientific program of the conference,\u00a0you must also register online, and we must receive payment of your registration fees by that date.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/p>\n<p>If you would like to attend the conference, but do not plan to\u00a0give a presentation, we suggest that you <a href=\"http:\/\/my.dev.vanderbilt.edu\/at16\/Registration\">register online<\/a> rather than\u00a0waiting until you get to the meeting.\u00a0This will help us with organizing various conference\u00a0events, and will allow us to have your badge and program materials\u00a0ready when you arrive.
