Hello!

My name is Nolan Siegel, and I am looking forward to blogging this semester! I’m a student at Vanderbilt University studying political science and economics (with minors in astronomy and scientific computing), and I like asking big questions about the universe and my place within it. ASTR 2110 is my fourth astronomy course, and I look forward to learning more about our corner of the universe (so to say). In other news, this is one of my favorite videos about space voyages. Check it out.

Hello everyone!

My name is Michael Dobson and I am a junior Computer Engineer from Ridgefield, Connecticut. This is the first astronomy class I have taken at Vandy and am looking forward to learning more about the Solar System with Dr. G. Since I’m sure this is many of my classmate’s first time taking astronomy, this is a cool TED Talk that I watched to prep for the semester!

Also, the image above is a photo of me when I got the opportunity to be a bat boy for a Chicago Cubs game.

Hello Friends!

My name is Mykayla, and this is my introductory post to my astroblog. I am a first-year at Vanderbilt University, and this semester I am taking Dr. G’s ASTR 2110 “Solar Systems” class. I am excited about this blog, as I am obsessed with the heavens and this gives me an outlet to talk about astronomy topics that make me happy. I am hoping to also learn new things as I do research for my posts. Hopefully readers will enjoy this blog as much as I do!

As you have probably noticed by the scriptures I included on the home page, I believe God intentionally and masterfully designed and created the heavens and the earth. I love studying the mysteries of His creation. It is so amazing that we have brains that allow us to make these kinds of discoveries. He could have made the universe boring, and made us oblivious to it, but He made it full of majesty, beauty, power, and wonder. And He made us aware of it, planting a divine curiosity within us! How amazing and gracious! Come along with me as I learn more about the universe, and in turn, its Designer.

Lorenz in China, by Me

Hello Everyone,

My name is Lorenz Chen, and I am a sophomore in the College of Arts and Sciences. I am pursuing a psychology degree, but mostly just trying to graduate on time. Besides the occasional Veritasium video, I do not have much exposure to astronomy, so I hope I learn a lot this semester. I am an avid car enthusiast, so on the off chance someone is very well connected and wants to purchase this car for me, please let me know!
