Known as the first rural, Hippie commune, it operated from 1965 to 1977, when it was fully abandoned<\/p>\n<p>It started when two friends became part-owners of a small goat pasture. This led Bernofsky and other early members to call it quits and leave.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">It wasn\u2019t long before the whole Drop City concept fizzled and died, becoming completely abandoned by 1977.
