\"\"<\/a><\/span>Abby R. Broughton is a Ph.D.\u00a0candidate\u00a0in French and Second Language Studies at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She received her M.A. in French Language and Literature from the University of Maryland, College Park in 2015 after successfully defending a thesis\u00a0entitled \u201cL\u2019esth\u00e9tique de l\u2019abject: go\u00fbt et d\u00e9go\u00fbt dans La Mort propagande<\/em> d\u2019Herv\u00e9 Guibert.\u201d She received her B.A. from North Carolina\u2019s Elon University in 2011 with majors in French and International Studies. Following graduation, she moved to Montpellier, France, where she taught English in preschool and elementary schools throughout the Languedoc region as part of the Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF).<\/p>\n

Abby’s dissertation research on social reading seeks to address issues of collaborative cultural interpretation in the intermediate and advanced French classroom. Additional\u00a0academic pursuits\u00a0include\u00a0the intersection of text and image, the pedagogy of theater, and the digital humanities.<\/p>\n

Abby is the co-author of A Colony in Crisis<\/a>, an interactive primary source reader featuring selected pamphlets surrounding the grain shortage of 1789 in colonial Saint-Domingue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
